Thin Layer Technology
In addition to the traditional Pap screening,
Palm Beach Pathology offers the ThinPrep Pap
Test. The ThinPrep Pap Test is a far superior
test than the conventional Pap Smear. ThinPrep
utilizes a liquid-based, thin layer preparation
that eliminates obscuring elements that may
prevent the true view of the specimen. Thin
layer preparations are proven to be more effective
than the conventional Pap Smear in detecting
abnormal cells.
Hybrid Capture 2 HPV DNA Test
Another recent advantage to hiring Palm Beach
Pathology is HPV Testing. Go beyond the abnormal
pap test with the Hybrid Capture 2 HPV DNA
Test to detect HPV even before visible cells
occur. Determine which patients are at greater
risk of cervical cancer and which are not.
Gonococcal Chlamydial Urogenital Disease
Tests Aptima Combo2 Assay is a target amplification
nucleic acid probe test that utilizes target
capture for the in vitro qualitative
detection and differentiation of ribosomal
RNA (rRNA) from Chlamydia trachomatis
and/or Neisseria gonorrhoeae in clinical-collected
endocervical, vaginal and male urethral swab
specimens, patient-collected vaginal swab
specimens and female and male urine specimens.
The assay may be used to test specimens from
symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals to
aid in the diagnosis of gonococcal and/or
chlamydial urogenital disease.
